For Indian Students what is the eligibility for MBBS education in overseas?

Any Indian Citizen who has completed 17 years of age and passed 10+2 from a recognized Board with minimum 50% (40% for SC/ST/OBC) in PCB is eligible to study MBBS overseas.

For international students, the medium of Instruction is ENGLISH.

What is screening Test?

Medical Council of India Screening Test, also known as Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), is a licensure examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in India. This is conducted twice a year; on last Saturday / Sunday of September and on last Saturday / Sunday of March. The screening test was introduced in 2002 as a qualifying examination for Indian students obtaining their medical degrees from countries other than India. It is one of the mandatory requirements for an Indian citizen who has a medical degree from a college outside India, to practice medicine in the country. The other requirement is a compulsory one-year internship at an Indian hospital attached to a medical college (teaching hospital) at MCI recognised hospital or even outside India but internship completion certificate has to counter attested by Indian mission embassy.


How many times I can appear MCI screening test & How do I register with MCI ?

There are no restrictions on number of attempts that can be availed by an applicant.To Register with MCI, applicants are required to submit attested (self attested and by Gazetted fficer) copies of)

  • Proof of Date of Birth
  • Copy of Passport of the applicant/Nationality Proof (e.g. voters ID Card)
  • 10+2 passing certificate issued by the respective Board of Examination
  • 10+2 mark sheet issued by the respective Board of Examination
  • Certificate of Passing Primary Medical Qualification i.e. MBBS or equivalent or equivalent degree certificate with mark sheet.Candidates are required to submit copies of degrees, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer and self-certified. The degrees should be attested either by the Embassy of India or should be Apostilled by the appropriate authority.   • Internship Certificate (if done abroad)
  • Eligibility Certificate issued by MCI (if available) for candidates joined on or after 15.03.2009
  • Translated copies (in English / Hindi) to be furnished if the certificates are in language other than English / Hindi.
  • Equivalence Certificate : From Association of Indian Universities (for e done 10+2 abroad)

Are the medical degree from abroad universities recognized in India?

Yes. The medical degree from abroad Universities is recognized. After completion the student should sit for screening test and register with MCI to practice in India.
Post Graduate courses from nowhere in the world are registered with the Medical Council of India or the Dental Council of India. Means the student can own private practice or work in a private hospital. He is also eligible to appear for screening examinations like PLAB etc.

Brief the accommodation details

Generally students live in a University hostel. There are rooms with either two or three beds, a common bathroom and common kitchen. Each room comes with beds, tables and cupboards. Hostels are within the University campus or a 5-10 minute ride. There are internet facilities in shops near the hostel; food stores, restaurants and other facilities are nearby. Students have the option of renting rent a flat in the city. 2 to 6 persons can share a flat.
